Who Can Apply

  • Individuals or teams
  • Breakthrough healthcare innovations focused on therapeutics preferred
  • Game-changing innovations in diagnostics, medtech or related fields also accepted
  • Startups in the pre-seed to seed funding stage that meet one of the following criteria:
    • On the verge of incorporation
    • Clear plans to secure an Intellectual Property (IP) position or develop a prototype
  • Professors and group leaders with a promising discovery or valuable IP
  • Startups that have already received their series ‘A’ round are accepted
  • International teams welcome but must establish in Basel during Phase II
  • English speaking (program held in English)

Selection Criteria

  • Solid scientific concepts
  • Initial development plan
  • Realistic business case
  • Strong commitment from the project team

Application Process

  • Register your interest by the deadline
  • Preliminary applications evaluated by the BaseLaunch team
  • Invitations to apply are sent out—if invited, you must apply by the deadline
  • Full applications reviewed by the Selection Committee
  • 10 teams selected for Phase I
  • At the end of Phase I, startups will present to the Selection Committee
  • 3 teams with the best presentations will be invited to attend Phase II

Conditions

  • Teams must participate in activities such as working sessions and presentations
  • Project name, focus area, and description may be used for marketing purposes
  • Phase I startups:
    • Are encouraged to be physically present in Basel
    • Must formulate/refine business case for presentation to Selection Committee
  • Phase II startups must be:
    • Physically present, at least partially, in Basel
    • Incorporated or legally registered in Basel
